Human Resources Generalist

Our Hagerstown, MD location is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Human Resources Generalist. This job is a full-time, on-site position.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Guide and support the people-management functions that drive our business results, including training and development processes. 
  • Management of the assigned employee relations, performance management, and training processes.
  • Provide guidance and support for the plant health, safety, environmental and quality strategies that ensure protection of employee and company property, safety, health environmental compliance and product quality. 
  • Lead recruitment, staffing and retention efforts that include talent management and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal obligations pertaining to employment. 
  • Guide efforts to improve employee communications and community relations.
  • Assist in managing the worker’s compensation process, including the post-injury management procedures. 
  • Coach and counsel employees to promote maximum performance.
  • Visiting mill operational areas to understand various roles and responsibilities of plant personnel. 
  • Conduct various mill and contractor safety audits especially during mill maintenance outages.

 

Knowledge and Experience  

  • Preferred four-year degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from a nationally recognized accredited college or university.
  • 2-5 years' experience working in a generalist human resources capacity.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. 
  • Proficiency at achieving results and leading change while adhering to stated Company values.
  • Understanding of employment and labor law, including State workers’ compensation. 
  • Experience in recruiting from hourly personnel to seasoned professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to quickly build rapport with all members and levels of the organization. 
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll processing.
  • Conflict resolution skills. 
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
