Project Engineer

Our El Dorado location in Arkansas, United States is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Project Engineer. This job is permanent, full-time.

 

Under general supervision, develops and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instructions, controls, machines, etc. Involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. 

REQUIREMENTS

1. Manage various technical projects in terms of engineering, schedules, and budgets.

2. Coordinating labor, equipment purchases, labor availability and the various subcontractors assigned to projects.

3. Provide technical support to the various departments.

4. Plan, coordinate, and manage feasibility studies for projects under his/her responsibility.

5. Prepare budget estimates and detailed for project implementation.

6. Comment and perform quality control of all project documents filed by collaborators.

7. Perform quality control of contractor’s on-site execution.

8. Ensure dynamic communication with project stakeholders.

9. Participates in the development of the Capital Project Budget (CAPEX).

10. Responsible for the consistent enforcement of safe regulations and working methods.

11. Any other related tasks to achieve project performance objectives (inspections, reports, accountability, filing, and archiving).

12. Performs work following safety procedures and practices.

13. Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

14. It is an essential function of the job that the individual will not be a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves, others, or property. 15. Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing or handling hazardous or non-hazardous materials and wastes.

16. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the company and the community.

17. Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

18. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

19. Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance habit to comply with existing attendance requirements.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in a lumber mill environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear in appropriate areas and must follow safety practices.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time.

 

SAFETY SENSITIVE

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties the operating or monitoring of heavy equipment or machinery, as well as working with and around hazardous materials. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the incumbent and others, the incumbent must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while operating or monitoring heavy equipment or machinery, as well as while working with and around hazardous materials.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

The incumbent must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or any other training deemed equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a license from the Order of Engineers of Arkansas.
  • 1 to 3 years of project management experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience, wood industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.

REQUIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • Mastering computer-aided design software (Autocad) required.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work at El Dorado, AR and Cross City, FL locations as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to work weekends, as needed, for weekend installation and outdoor projects.
  • Working knowledge of sawmill equipment.
