Our Coosa Pines location in Coosa Pines, Alabama is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Supervisor, Technical Services. This job is onsite at the Coosa Pines facility, .

Primary Purpose

Primary focus is Quality Assurance support for product manufactured on site.  Support laboratories in process areas.  Ensure that quality product is being produced and shipped.  Instrumental in the development of knowledge for troubleshooting quality processes and equipment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support for health, safety, environmental and quality strategies that ensure protection of employee and company property, safety, health environmental compliance and product quality.
  • Ensure timely investigations and responses to customer complaints or concerns.
  • Provide knowledge, monitoring, and troubleshooting of processes and equipment directly related to quality to include Schenk Vision online defect detection system, online process scanner, cleaning system, impacts of bleaching, and pulping processes.
  • Oversee and manage testing laboratory in Pulp Dryer process area and Product Development Lab.
  • Calibrate and verify calibration of process and lab equipment where quality of product is impacted.
  • Coordinate onsite calibration services for instruments that impact quality including ISO calibrations of onsite equipment.
  • Coordinate purchasing required lab equipment and quality standards.
  • Oversee training of new employees to area in which quality is impacted through daily tasks.
  • Maintain archive and customer sampling process.
  • Coordinate outside lab product testing as required and specialty testing for product research purposes.
  • Product benchmarking based on competitor product.
  • Develop/update test procedures as required and ensure all testing procedures conform with TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry).
  • Coordinate and assist with ISO 9001/14001 internal audits and outside party ISO 9001 surveillance audits.
  • Lead in safety audits and supplier quality audits.
  • Work with pulp dryer crew during trial conditions to ensure the quality of product meets expectations.
  • Collaborate with Pulp Customer Service Manager in the development of new product/process changes.
  • Support pulp dryer team with machine optimizations.
  • Data analysis from mill data systems, routine production analysis, and generate customer COAs.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred or related field.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 Standards and requirements a plus.
  • Understanding of customer quality systems and requirements.
  • Knowledge of MS Office platforms.
