Transport Analyst I

Our Calhoun location in Calhoun Tennessee, is currently seeking talent to fill a Transportation Analyst I position. This job is permanent, full-time and not elgible for Remote.
 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing activities to increase equipment efficiency and reliability to positively impact operational production and to reduce maintenance cost.

Primary Purpose

Entry level Transportation Analyst who administers motor carrier operations on inbound and outbound commodities per established policies and procedures to reduce cost and meet customer’s delivery requirements.                                                                      

Duties and Responsibilities

• Schedules and coordinates inbound & outbound trucks. Monitors and problem solves to assure on-time delivery for Calhoun, Hagerstown, Cardinal Tissue, and VSI
• Negotiates motor carrier rates and service for spot and emergency truck shipments
• Monitor Service reports from SAP and Carrierpoint.
• Investigates, problem solves, files claims, and follows up with Sales and motor carriers, performance problems, transit damage cases, and customer complaints; prepares and analyzes motor carrier performance.
• Audit and processes truck and rail freight invoices, control accessorial cost (demurrage, detention, lumpers, missed delivery fees, etc.).
• Works with department to ensure all finished rolls meet customer specs, all paper is produced and shipped as scheduled, and that quality issues in all departments are addressed.
• Coach employees to understand and comply with the mill Quality System.

• Working knowledge of environmental requirements and ability to access and retrieve information from the Environmental intranet site. Approve or dispute demurrage invoices for rail services.  (Intra mill Switching, demurrage, etc…)
• Accrue charges for any rail charges paid for accounting.
• Create deliveries and shipments for finished goods and parent rolls tissue for Calhoun, Hagerstown, Cardinal, and VSI.
• Track and trace rail shipments, keeping a schedule of cars and truck loads arriving inbound
• Physical inspection to locate missing cars on the mills site, CSXT yard, and NS yard.
• Correct billing with NS and CSX

Knowledge and experience

• Bachelor Science degree, Logistics/Transportation preferred, with 1 - 3 years’ experience or 6 plus years of on-the-job experience in a progressively more responsible role in the area of transportation.
• Strong working knowledge of all modes of transportation, negotiation techniques, and problem-solving skills.
• Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets including Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Strong inter-personal skills to build positive professional relationships with internal and external customers.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• SAP Experience
• TMS (Transport Management Systems) a plus
