The location in Plymouth, (North Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Shift Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.
Your work will include but not be limited to:
- Tracking continuous improvement opportunities where performance issues are apparent and provide leadership/action plans for gap closure.
- Identify repairs needed in the NC5/Shipping department and work in conjunction with the Area Maintenance Coordinator to maintain equipment at its highest level of reliability and availability.
- Follow-up as required with the AMC to see that jobs are prioritized and completed at the first opportunity available.
- Monitor use of and maintain inventory of all consumables, process chemicals, etc.
- Possess skills necessary to lead machine crew through quality problem resolution and to implement procedures and guidelines to keep it on track.
- Safety and Environmental awareness and leadership are paramount.
- Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains staff training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
- Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering (or related field) *OR* HS Diploma or equivalent with 10 or more years Practical experience in production, at least 5 of which are in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze failures and trouble shoot problems.
- Experience in supervising hourly employees in union environment and holding them accountable.
- Experience in following & enforcing Mill Safety/Environmental policies and procedures.
- Willing to work weekends/holidays, and be on call specified times 24 hours a day.
- Communications abilities to include report writing, SOP writing and some technical writing.
- Demonstrated history of working within a team environment, showing ownership, leadership and interest to grow in the organization.
- Experience in teaching, coaching and enforcing rules, laws and policies.
- Demonstrated use of high sense of urgency in regards to all aspects of the operation, with the proven ability to create same sense of urgency in those reporting to this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in SAP a plus
- Experience in Kronos is a plus
