The location in Johnsonburg, (Pennsylvania, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent. This job is full-time permanent.

 

Domtar Paper Company is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for their J5 Paper Machine at their Johnsonburg Mill. The position is full time, permanent position located in Johnsonburg, PA. The Johnsonburg Mill is a pulp, paper and cogeneration facility producing Fine Papers. The successful candidate will report to the J5 Paper Machine Superintendent.

 

Key Functions:

  • Lead process improvement projects and troubleshooting activities to deliver process, safety, cost, quality, and reliability improvements.
  • Manage day-to-day department operational plans to achieve maximum uptime while meeting the highest quality standards at minimum cost.
  • Develop/Implement training and manage departmental supply requirements.
  • Plan and direct process optimization priorities.
  • Facilitate the maintenance coordination of shutdown, outages, and cost control activities for the overall Department.
  • Facilitate the coordination of weekly maintenance schedules and cost control activities for the overall Department.
  • Collaborate and support Production Scheduling.
  • Lead and facilitate the implementation of new grade development plans partnering with Quality and Process Engineering.
  • Participate in Department meetings and carry out required communications when required.
  • Direct the Team Leader on operational technical aspects and respectively their crews.
  • Plan the course of action and organize Department audits and carry out required communications.

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in engineering or 5-10 years of equivalent experience in the functional discipline working in a paper manufacturing environment.
  • 10 years of related experience in increasingly responsible jobs in a plant environment with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in personnel management in a unionized environment.
  • Lean and Six Sigma
  • Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Planning skills:  prioritization, setting objectives, action planning, and decision-making to manage workloads, accomplish tasks, and collaborate with others.
  • Demonstrate proactive behavior to act or anticipate, take responsibility, make decisions, exhibit perseverance, work as a team, and accept the accountability to achieve work goals.
  • Possess a results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving objectives despite experiencing obstacles and barriers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills displayed through active listening, sharing feedback, and clear and complete reporting.
  • Capable of rapid assimilation and adaptation in constantly changing environments.
  • Experience with Windows and SAP operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
